Overview
The responsibilities of being a helping professional requires having a vast array of skills and knowledge in your clinical toolkit. Included in that toolkit should be a little creative spark to enhance our communication techniques to support our clients in making lasting changes. Join us for this full-day interactive training on ways to incorporate humor and therapeutic improv into your clinical practice. To kick off the fun, Laura Frohboese, LCSW, social worker in the ER of a Level 1 trauma center, also known as Sally Social Worker, will provide a reflection on the benefits of using humor in your personal and professional practice, weaving in considerations from our professional ethical codes and how relevant standards apply. Building on this foundation, Murray Dabby, LCSW, Relationship Coach and Psychotherapist, will detail how to incorporate therapeutic improv into our clinical interactions with clients. We will explore theoretical foundations, ethical challenges, and the applications of these techniques in our practice – including via Zoom and related platforms. Don’t miss this interactive and engaging day of learning!

By Attending Our Workshop, You Will Be Able To:

  • Summarize the ways humor can be beneficial in our workplace
  • List 2 ethical standards that apply to utilizing humor in our professional practice
  • Name the theoretical foundations to therapeutic improv
  • Describe ethical considerations of utilizing therapeutic improv in practice
  • Discuss best practices for utilizing Zoom more effectively
