Overview:
As helping professionals, we may have heard of Medicaid expansion in Georgia; however, our knowledge of this may be somewhat limited. Many of our clients may all into the “coverage gap” – meaning that they earn too little to pay for ACA coverage but don’t qualify for Medicaid. Georgians for a Healthy Future will provide an overview of the history of Medicaid expansion in Georgia as well as legislative efforts around this and who may fall in this coverage gap. They will also review how the program works to cover those that fall in the gaps, who qualifies, services covered and what may come next. Many of our ethical codes review the need for us to be aware and advocate for services to better serve our clients. You will leave this presentation with more knowledge around advocacy for this program and how to better navigate this confusing system around Medicaid expansion.
