Overview:
March 2020 put a series of events into motion that the majority of the population had never dealt with. COVID 19 put our health care system in the spotlight, exposing its strengths and its weaknesses. As the world watched and data was released, the disparities within the healthcare system became more and more evident. In this training, data regarding Georgia’s population and those affected most by COVID 19 will be explored. Featuring the expertise of Georgians for a Healthy Future, they will facilitate a conversation regarding race and ethnicity as they relate to our health care system and COVID 19. Participants will be asked to explore various health disparities specific to Georgia’s population and engage in dialogue regarding these topics with one another – learning from each other’s experiences. Join us for a well-rounded, honest, and data-driven presentation that will offer some new thought-provoking perspectives.

By Attending Our Workshop, You Will Be Able To:

  • List three examples of social determinants of health care.
  • Identify social determinants that contribute to racial disparities in health care.
  • Effectively engage in public policy advocacy to address racial disparities in health care.
